Beautiful People…

TGIF!!!! Even though I will be working on my thesis most of the weekend, I am so excited to be off for three days straight! Even the traffic, which has been insane all week, was lighter than usual today…

During my drive in to work today, I popped my Chris Brown CD in and was listening to my favorite song, Beautiful People…Its on my workout playlist, but I haven’t listened to it in my car for quite some time. Can I just say this song makes me feel so Goooooooooddddddd inside! Its all about living your life, doing what makes you happy, and refusing to let anyone or anything bring you down.

Check it out here:

Enjoy! Happy Friday boos!!! XOXO

A Peek…

Here is a peek at a few things I picked up recently from Ann Taylor Loft in Gallery Place. On my lunch break the other day I took a walk down to 7th Street here in DC and I met one of my friends there (hey Tameka!). After an hour of looking around, I finally found a few things that I couldn’t pass up…

How cute are these blouses?! The stars and ruffles make me feel like a kid again, and yet the blouses are  totally sophisticated. And that trench!!! I fully intend on rocking the heck out of it this fall. I am so over summer, and am looking forward to pulling my fall fashion gear out!

Just Like Candy Mani

Let me start by saying that this nail design was inspired by a post I saw recently here on Channing in the City. It was posted by a guest blogger, Sereeda from, and I loved the design so much I decided to try it!

With all the doom and gloom going on outside today, I thought I would brighten my day with this pretty DIY nail design. Sereeda’s instructions were super easy to follow (be sure to click on the link above) so I won’t go over the steps again, but I will tell you what nail colors and brands I used below:

Used Zoya’s Ericka as the based color. Color Club’s Blu-Ming, Nails Inc’s Baker Street, and Zoya’s Lara were used to make the dots. I also used a dotting tool which is not pictured here.

How adorable is this? Makes me think of Nerds!!

I love this mani and fully intend on doing variations of this look in the future. I’m so glad I decided not to go to the nail salon today because I think I did a pretty good job on my cuticles! Lol…But what do you guys think of this mani?? Would you try it? Talk to you all soon! XOXO

DL’s Boom Boom Pow + Gaia

I was painting my nails last night and I wanted to go for a more neutral look since I have been wearing vibrant blues and pinks for a minute now. I decided to use Zoya’s Gaia for my mani, and I added Deborah Lippmann’s Boom Boom Pow to my accent nail.

What can I say about Gaia? First, I have to admit that the pictures do not do her justice. Gaia is a creamy white color with gorgeous flecks of gold/yellow in it. I purchased this color a few months ago during Zoya’s last buy 3, get 3 promotion and I am not at all disappointed. I bought this particular color because white nail polish can look a bit harsh on dark skin (in my opinion) and I wanted a white (or close to white) color that would look flattering on me. Although its a little streaky at first, by your third coat, you will be so mesmerized by this color, and you will forget all about the little bit of work you had to put into it. Gaia’s golden shimmer is really what makes this color special. You can purchase it on Zoya’s website here for $8.

As for Deborah Lippmann’s Boom Boom Pow, not only does it have 24K gold flakies in it, but it looks absolutely gorgeous on the nail. BBP consists of round gold glitters as well as tiny flecks of gold, which makes your nails feel blinged out without looking too over the top. You can pair is with almost any color and it will look beautiful. DL’s nail polishes usually cost a pretty penny (BBP retails for $20), but anyone who has tried her glitter polishes will admit that it is well worth it. Of all of the DL polishes I own, BBP is definitely one of my favorites. You can purchase it at Nordstrom here.

I hope you enjoyed this post…Talk to you all soon!! XOXO

I thought that I would start my week (I was supposed to post this yesterday) by posting some pictures from my Instagram (IG) account. I’m sure I’ve already told you all how much I absolutely love this app! I believe its available on both iPhones and Androids now so you should definitely look into it if you haven’t already done so! A lot of what’s been going on in my world on a day-to-day basis is reflected on there so here are some pictures to sum up the past week or so on IG:

How cute are these custom made post-its and letter head? I ordered these, along with some blog business cards, from Vistaprint. Although the designs are a bit limited, I was really impressed with everything they can actually do (i.e. custom made pens, post-its, t-shirts, journals, web hosting, etc.). Check it out when you get the chance…

Remember when I did a post a little while back about turning my dining room into an office (Inspirational Spaces)? Well, I went and purchased a desk and ghost chair from ikea, and set my little office space up last weekend…I really love it. The color of the desk really brightens up the room. The nail polishes and leopard print coaster on the desk also add a super girly feel to it. Not to mention that weird desk lamp. If you would like for me to do a separate post on my office space just let me know…

I went a little crazy at Nordstrom over the past couple of weeks during the Anniversary Sale, and I purchased some lip glosses (that I really didn’t need). They are gorge though! The Chanel, Nars and Bobbi Brown glosses are the new ones in the picture above…and are all different from what I would normally choose for myself (fuschia/pink). Gotta step outside your comfort zone sometimes ladies!

As for the green ensemble, I’ve been looking for a trench vest for months!! I finally stumbled upon one in the Old Navy outlet at Arundel Mills last week. I went to the mall with my sister (hey Keisha!) and I was trying my best not to buy anything, but who can resist something purchasing something that they’ve been on the hunt for?! Certainly not me…I can’t wait to rock this baby!

Last, but certainly not least, my birthday was on Sunday, August 5th.  Outside of all the amazing birthday wishes and other things I received, I had to post this amazing home cooked meal! Stuff salmon with crab meat, scallops, shrimp and aspargus! Ah-Mazing! Feel great to now be a part of the 30 and over club! Lol…

Whelp, I think I’ve rambled on long enough. I hope you all have a lovely week and I will talk to you all soon! Smooches! XOXO

Back to Black

I dyed my hair jet black a couple of weeks ago, and I am loving it! For some reason I feel like my hair looks healthier when its all black. It seems like when you have color in your hair even minuscule damage is magnified! I only had highlights for a couple of months, but I just grew tired of that look. Felt like I needed to work hard to pull it off (that was probably all in my head but oh well…Lol). I liked the highlights, but I was ready for a change…back to black I go (went)!

What hair colors are you guys into? Ever had any dye hick-ups? If so, post a comment. I’d love to hear about it!

NOTD: Salt N’ Pepper

I don’t think I’ve ever featured an Indie nail polish brand on here, but I had to tell you guys about this glitter nail polish I tried recently. I purchased Salt N’ Pepper from Lush Lacquers on Etsy, and I only ordered the mini bottle because I wasn’t sure if I was going to really like it. Now I wish I had purchased the bigger bottle! Lol…This glitter is super fun! I had a hard time capturing all of its awesomeness on camera, which sucks but I hope you like the swatches anyway.

Salt N’ Pepper consists of a clear base, black and white bar, hexagonal and square glitters (all various sizes), and tiny specks of holographic glitter. It reminds me of paint splatter…Check out the images below:

What do you guys think? Have you tried this or any other indie nail polish brand?! Let me know!
Smooches! XOXO
