Cocktails With Claire D.C.

So, unless you’ve been living under rock, I know you all have heard of the Fashion Bomb Daily…Well, the editor, Claire Sulmers, had an event in DC last Friday night and all of the DMV fashionistas were in attendance.

The event was in Northwest DC at Eighteenth Street Lounge, which is a cute little hole-in-the-wall spot near Connecticut Avenue. The beautiful hors d’oeuvres were delish, and prepared by the awesome guys from Kitchen Cray.

Here are a few pictures I was able to snap. I wanted to shoot more but the venue was pretty dark and I am new to this fancy camera thing (don’t judge me…Lol):

I almost missed this event! My friend Manda was the one who let me know about it the day before, and we decided to go together.

The gift bags included these Fashion Bomb Daily wine glasses, which I thought was cute. It was really nice to meet Claire…She was all smiles and gave a great speech regarding her appreciation for her readers. I know she had to havae taken a thousand pictures that night with all the ladies that were there. DC apparently had the largest RSVPs of all the cities she had gone to (New York and Atlanta).

There were a lot of stylish women in the building, but here are two of my favorite looks:

I loved this look on the left. The leopard turban, and cotton dress with faux leather sleeves was super cute. She also wore some gladiator sandals, which made the look low maintenance and chic.

I loved this look as well…All I have to say is this chick was working it. That lipstick, those sunnies and the mixture of prints was giving me life…

Did any of you attend Cocktails With Claire in DC? Or in another state? If so, what did you think about the event?

A Jelly ‘Sammich’

Hey Ladies!! As promised, I wanted to post this picture so that you all could see what I meant when I was discussing “jelly sammiches” earlier this week on the blog. Although I am not a fan of wearing glitter on all of my nails, an accent nail never hurt anyone. To achieve this look I used two coats of OPI’s Don’t Touch My Tutu, one coat of Rainbow Honey’s Magic Cake on top of that, and I finished my jelly sandwich off with one more coat of Don’t Touch My Tutu. To avoid smudges and bald spots, makes sure that you allow sufficient drying time between each coat.

Happy Friday and I hope everyone has a blessed weekend!! xx

Nordy Girl Favorites

I have a bunch of beauty products and one accessory to tell you guys about today…

Nail Products

I previously tried samples of Bubble White, and finally decided to get the jar so that I could soak my nails on a more frequent basis. I love this stuff because it is a quick and easy way to prep your nails for an at home manicure. Bubble White cleans your nails and softens your cuticles, and it literally works in 5 minutes. Amazeballs! As for the hand cream…I was previously stuck on Soap & Glory’s Hand Food, which I still love, but I didn’t realize that Silk Elements sold a hand cream that is comparable and much more affordable. What I love about this particular hand cream is that it smells amazing and moisturizes my hands without making them feel greasy. And for a little over $3…Yes, I’ll take that! Lol…

Make Up

Lately, my make up has been super easy going: Brows.Mascara.Lip Gloss. These glosses from Sephora and Revlon have been giving me that super shiny look that I love. Unlike mac lip glosses, they are light…No crazy thinkness here, but a lot of shine, which is exactly what I need. And for my lashes I’ve been obsessed with this Lash Potion from Revlon. OMG yall!! The volume and length that I get from this mascara is unreal. I use at least 3 coats when putting on my make up. Lol…

Nail Polish

Pastels and bright pinks!! I’ve finally ventured away from blue (cream) nail polish, ladies…I thought I would try something a little different from what I usually wear. These three polishes are jellies, meaning that they are a bit on the sheer side but are buildable, and can easily be layered with glitter nail polish. Ever heard of a “jelly sandwich”? Well, that is when you put a layer of glitter in between two coats of jelly nail polish (I’ll be sure to post an example of one this week)…Well, these polishes are perfect for that sort of thing. Here are swatches of each:

Gargantuan Green Grape (L), Don’t Touch My Tutu (M), and You Drive Me Coconuts (R).

Finally, I have been dying to tell you all about this eye glass case from Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale. This is the only thing I bought from the sale and I am so in love with it. I swear I would probably buy anything that has “Nordy Girl” on it for the phrase alone. All I can say is this case is sooooo me…Period…

All Products Mentioned:

I hope you all enjoyed this post…If you’ve tried any of these items, let me know what you think of them. Talk to you all soon! xx
