  • Essie – First Timer
  • Essie – In The Cab-ana
  • Zoya – Sweet
  • Essie – Mint Candy Apple
  • Zoya – Pippa
  • Color Club – Poptastic
  • China Glaze – Keep Calm, Paint On
  • Julep – Avery
  • Revlon – Blue Lagoon

As you can see, blues and pinks are my weakness! And who doesn’t love pastels?! Remember that nail polish is just another accessory to add some color to your wardrobe so have fun with it! Don’t get so bogged down with trends. Do you! xx

Try This: Beyonce’s Inauguration Mani

Inauguration Nails Bey

I see that Bey is becoming quite a trendsetter when it comes to nail polish. When I saw her wearing Baker Street from Nails Inc. I had to have it. And here is another must have color that I need in my life. While she sang the national anthem at President Barack Obama’s Inauguration Ceremony here in DC earlier this week, I couldn’t help but notice her gorgeous redish-tangerine nails!

As I have said a million times in the past couple of weeks, red is my thing right now, and Bey is giving me life with this color in “I’m With The Band” from NCLA, a LA based nail polish line that is infamous for their bold nail polishes and even bolder nail wraps. You can find out more about this color as well as the brand at www.shopncla.com.

But you know I found a duplicate for this color, right? In actuality, when I googled “I’m With The Band,” the swatches didn’t quite look as bright as the color looks in the picture above. Well, I also follow Color Club on Facebook, and they have a similar color, which I think is a bit brighter (and much more afforadable) than “I’m With The Band.” The colors aren’t exactly the same, but I think Color Club’s Lava Lamp is more my type of color. But depending on your taste, you may like one more than the other…I think either option is gorge!

So what do you think of Bey’s manicure? Would you try this color? Are there any other celeb manis that you would like to duplicate?

xx

Blu-Ming

Here is one of my favs at the moment, Color Club’s Blu-Ming from their Blossoming collection for Spring 2012. I didn’t bother to buy the rest of the collection because after you have purchased as much polish as I have, the colors begin to look redundant. However, I think this one is a gem!! I posted a picture of it on my Instagram and it was quite popular so I thought I would blog about it. It was super easy to apply, as the formula was amazing and very easy to work with:

Blu-Ming is so incredibly bright!! It’s like CC took a mint green and turned it up several notches!! It was a little streaky with the first coat, but looks perfectly opaque after you apply a second. I def would recommend that you add this color to your stash!! XOXO…

Revvvolution

In my efforts to refrain from purchasing any nail polish during Lent (I am not Catholic, but wanted to sacrifice something) I have been shopping for nail polish within my own collection, which has actually been fun. I remembered that I had this baby after someone I follow on Instagram posted a swatch of it.

Color Club’s Revvvolution is an amazing holographic black nail color.  As with most Color Club polishes, the formula is smooth and very easy to work with…I can’t believe I had forgotten about this one, but these swatches have reminded me of why I was so eager to get my hands on it (or should I say get it on my hands! Lol). Check out the swatches:

Color Club has some other holographic nail polishes like Fashion Addict (Catwalk Queen Collection) and Worth the Risqué (Femme Fatale collection), which have been in my wish list for a minute. I’m sure they are just as amazing!!

Do you have Revvvolution? If so, what do you think about it?

Another Nail Polish Haul

Hey Ladies!

I decided to try something different with this nail polish haul. I made a video instead of making you read all of my rambling…I hope you all enjoy it…It took me forever just to record and upload and I didn’t even do any editing…Whew!

Here are some pictures as well as the names of the polishes I mentioned:

Colors Names (From Left to Right):

  1. Traffic-Stopper Copper (Sephora by OPI)
  2. Atlantis (China Glaze)
  3. Beyond the Mistletoe (Color Club)
  4. Wish Upon a Rock-Star (Color Club)
  5. Beyond Infinity (Misa)
  6. School of Hard Rocks (Essie)
  7. Masquerading (Color Club)
  8. Quirky Smile (Misa)
  9. New Bohemian (Color Club)
  10. Wild About Shimmer (Sephora by OPI)

All of these polishes are available at Head2ToeBeauty (except for the Sephora polishes, of course).

Quick Post: Nails of the Day

I am just now getting into glitter nail polish and I am loving the Beyond the Mistletoe Collection from Color Club. I wanted the Deborah Lippmann glitter polishes, but they are just so expensive and I couldn’t bring myself to pay $18 for each one.

Anywhoo, I thought I would put on Color Club’s Pure Energy and I put Beyond the Mistletoe on every other finger…Loves it!

Color Club: Back to Boho Collection

Okay, I know that I’ve talked about nail polish a lot in my last couple of posts, but what can I say?! Nail polish is an accessory too! Lol…Anyway, since we are still talking about Fall, I thought I’d show you guys a collection that I think is perfect for those of you who don’t have any Fall colors in your collection yet. Here is Color Club’s Back to Boho Collection. I am sure that I am totally late on this one, but I had to tell you guys about it! Unfortunately, I already own very similar colors so I only purchased one polish from this collection (New Bohemian). Check them all out below:

Row One (From Left to Right): Nomadic in Nude, Earthy Angel, New Bohemian, Shabby Drab, Rad Nomad, and Red-ical Gypsy.

Row Two (From Left to Right): Boho Mojo, N0uveau Vintage, Voo Doo You Do, Artsy Crafty, Blue-Topia, and Rebel Spirit.

I especially love the metallics and the nude shades. Be sure to Google the names so that you can see how each colors look on actual nails. I discovered all of these on Head2ToeBeauty… As you already know, that is my favorite place to purchase this brand as well as many other brands that are hard to find in local stores.

Also be sure to check out their Beyond the Mistletoe and Back Stage Pass Collections if you are looking for glitter polishes that may be similar to the  ones in Deborah Lippman’s collection. Their Foiled Collection also has some pretty hot colors too! Happy Shopping!! XOXO

Fall Nails

I combed through my nail polish collection to see if I had the essential colors for Fall, and I do! Rusts/coppers, nudes, blues, greens, reds/corals and gunmetals are all in this fall. I’ve swatched all of the colors you will need, and even added some colors to keep things interesting. Personally, I can’t walk around with dark colors on my hands for several months (so depressing!) so I had to throw some wildcards into the mix.

Starting at the top with the black, I will list the colors and brands clockwise:

  1. Liquid Leather – China Glaze
  2. Revvvolution – Color Club
  3. Gunmetal – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  4. Pink (It’s actually a peach color)- Love and Beauty
  5. Hi Def – Sephora
  6. Monsooner or Later – OPI
  7. Hot Magenta – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  8. Purple Panic – China Glaze
  9. Let’s Talk – Sinful Colors
  10. Yoga-Ta Get This Blue – OPI
  11. Frostbite – China Glaze
  12. Blue It – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  13. Ocean View – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  14. Read My Palm – Sephora
  15. The Real Teal – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  16. Dance Teal Dawn – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  17. Emerald City – Revlon
  18. Teal We Meet Again – Sephora

Nails of the Day: Red

If you follow me on twitter (@Clutchezblog) then you will (1) know that I am obsessed with Instagram (@alwayzkel) and (2) that I posted this picture of my red nails yesterday.

I’ve never been into red nails, but if any color is bright enough, I’ll wear it. With fall approaching, I want to wear darker colors but I just can’t bring myself to wear anything other than brights ( besides blues) right now! I am also working on a post on fall nail colors, which I’ll post later on this week…until then, here are my red nails:

Massive Nail Polish Haul

Okay, I know, I know, this is a lot of nail polish to collect in a month and a half, but I couldn’t resist!! Between Ulta, http://www.head2toebeauty.com, Target, Walmart and Sally’s Beauty Supply I have collected WAY TOO MUCH POLISH, but I am loving and wearing them all!!

I have some swatches below that I know a lot of you guys (gals!) would be interested in so let’s get right into it. Click on the pictures to enlarge them so that you can see the colors up close:

Natural Light

I’ve taken pictures of these swatches in various lighting because, believe it or not, your polish looks different depending on the lighting. Here are the names and brands of each from left to right:

  1. Milani: Totally 80’s (Target)
  2. Wet’N’Wild: The Wonder Yellows (Walmart)
  3. Revlon: Minted (Target)
  4. Essie: Turquoise and Caicos (Ulta)
  5. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: The Real Teal (Ulta)
  6. Sally Hansen HD: Blu (Target)
  7. Sinful Colors: Let’s Talk (Target)
  8. Color Club: Pure Energy (Head2toe)
  9. Color Club: Poptastic (Head2toe)
  10. Color Club: Revvvolution (holographic) (Head2toe)
  11. China Glaze Crackle Metal: Oxidized Aqua (The polish underneath is Frostbite by China Glaze) (Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  12. China Glaze Crackle Metal: Platinum Pieces (The polish underneath is Frostbite by China Glaze) (Sally’s Beauty Supply)

There are a few other China Glaze Crackle Metals that I want but Sally’s only had the two I mentioned above and Broken Medallion (which I didn’t want). I need Tarnished Gold, and Haute Metal (and maybe Latticed Lilac)…We shall see if I can get my hands on them! Here’s a link to the video demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diYAChyhqBg&feature=player_embedded

BONUS: Sally Hansen Salon Effects

I’ve seen advertisements for these in several magazines and I’ve been wanting to try them for a long time. I was debating because $8-$9 is a lot to spend on nail strips for one-time only use. I am excited to report that I am very pleased with them. Kitty, Kitty is definitely my favorite out of all of the designs. I tried Frock Star, but I couldn’t get with all that glitter! Here is the swatch for Kitty, Kitty:
