Julep – Audrey

Instead of buying a bunch of new polish, I decided to go through all the polish I have and force myself to wear them. In the midst of organizing the polish that I have and figuring out how to display them in such a way that I can see all the colors, I found Julep’s Audrey. I have had this polish for months, and I remember trying it on, but I don’t recall ever actually wearing it. So I decided to paint my nails with it last night:

Can I just say the shimmer is this color is amazing, and the pictures really don’t do it justice. Audrey is a pale pink polish with a gorgeous silver shimmer. I believe I got this color in a Julep mystery box. Nonetheless, if you are looking for a low key neutral color, and can still get your hands on this one, you may want to cop it. It’s a nice twist on the traditional pinky nude polish that I am used to seeing. It’s a bit sheer so you will need at least three coats. You can find it on sale here.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! xx

Julep Brights (April)

DSCN0101

I haven’t ordered a Julep box in months. I was actually considering whether or not I should cancel my membership altogether because I was growing tired of pressing the SKIP button every month. Well, I am glad I didn’t cancel because I am so in love with the bright colors they released this month. Finally, a combination of colors that I like…I am always down for a bright red (Jackie) and pink (Avery) nail color combo so I chose the It Girl box this month. I am normally a Bombshell, but I almost always end up choosing a different box option. This month’s box also featured a nail and cuticle pen, which is right up my alley (not pictured).

I also added two more colors to my box. A bright blue (Ally) and a bright turquoise (Lena). I only had time to swatch Lena, but I am actually loved all of the colors. Lena is a creamy turquoise green with a hint of gold shimmer. Unfortunately, the shimmer doesn’t really translate on to the nail. It also is a bit thick. I imagine that it will require some thinner after a number of applications, but I love the color nonetheless.

Julep Spring Mystery Box

I was on Facebook last week and Julep had asked if anyone wanted them to do a Spring Mystery Box, and of course, hundreds (if not thousands) of people said yes. I had never ordered one before, but I have heard people mention how amazing their Mystery Boxes have been in the past. They claimed that for a one time payment of $19.99 (this price is for Julep Mavens only) you would receive $60 to $200 worth of products. So I thought, what the hay!? I might as well try my hand…and here is what I received:

I obviously didn’t win the $200 prize box! Lol…However, I thought this was a really cute and afforable idea. Here’s what was included in the box:

  • Julep Nail Polishes: Brooke, Marisa and Melissa
  • Julep Essential Cuticle Oil
  • Julep Nail File
  • Julep Base Coat
  • Spring/Easter Inspired Chocolate

I wanted to try Brooke and Melissa anyway, and if I had just purchased the two of them from the website using my discount I would have paid about $23. So I think this was a pretty good deal for $20…

Brooke is a shimmery purple that I will probably use as a top coat. Marisa is a gorgeous dark blue, which I already own but I certainly don’t mind having a back-up (see my post on Marisa here). Finally, Melissa is an sheer opalescent color that I will probably use as a top coat as well.

Out of the four months that I have been a member of Julep, I’ve skipped two, but I am thinking that being a Maven is beneficial even if I don’t order a box every month…Sidenote: The last time I was in Sephora, I saw that they have a nail polish bar now (which I think is amazing in and of itself!), and I noticed that Julep nail polishes were available for purchase there for $14. However, I’m not sure if they are in all Sephora retail stores so check your with your local store to be certain…

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post…Be sure to let me know what you think about Julep…What has your experience been with them?? Also, if you want to see swatches, feel free to let me know! Muah! XOXO

Julep Maven Program

I’ve been hearing mixed reviews regarding the Julep Maven program and was hesitant to join…but ultimately decided that I wanted to judge for myself. In case you don’t know what it is, the Julep Maven program is similar to Jewelmint, Shoemint, and Birchbox where you pay a monthly fee and receive nail polish and nail related products each month.

First, you take a quick quiz so that they can determine your style type, and each month you will be sent the box that corresponds with that particular style. Based on the test I took, it was determined that I was a Bombshell, which is no surpise! Just kidding…Lol! So I went ahead and ordered my first Bombshell box in January (I only paid $5 for the first box based on a promotion they had going on at the time). Carrie is a nice baby pink (a little streaky with the first coat) and Megan is a beautifully understated turqouise blue with some shimmers in it:

I didn’t like the Bombshell box for February so I opted for the Boho Glam box, which included a gorgeous blue (Marisa), and a “Oscar” gold glitter. The blue looks even more gorgeous in person, and I was excited about the glitter since I don’t own any gold glitter polishes:

I am only two months in, but I haven’t had any problems with Julep thus far. The boxes include $40 worth of product and your monthly subscription price is $19.99, which isn’t a bad deal if you are into nail polish. Keep in mind that the nail polish bottles are smaller than the average bottle of nail polish and can be a bit pricey. Their polishes normally retail for $14, but as a Maven you can get them for $11.20 with free shipping. Actually, all of their products will be 20% off if you join.

I haven’t use the products enough to tell you if they are worth it or not but I will definitely provide you all with an update once I’ve gotten around to trying a number of them. In the meantime, go to their site and just check it out…they have a wide range of colors available and each month you will get colors that haven’t been released yet. No pressure! Lol…but if you would like to sign up for the program, you can use my affiliate link here and use the referral code SHAREONFB to get your first box for $1).

Hope this was informative…and Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!! XOXO

*Please Note: I’ll include swatches of these colors in my next nail polish haul…
