Fall Lipsticks

Last night I was up until the wee hours of the morning watching Youtube videos (there is a wealth of knowledge online!), and I came across this video by Lip_sh0ck . This chick is truly talented at both beating her face and putting amazing videos together. Check out here latest video on her favorite Fall/Winter Lipsticks:

Honeslty, I don’t really change my make-up based on seasons, but I still found this video to be useful. As a brown girl it is sometimes hard to find lipsticks that go well with your complexion without spending an arm and a leg on them. I am definitely going to pick up the Revlon Mauvy Night and Violet Frenzy. I am a sucker for any color in the fuschia family! That red Tarte lipstick is also calling my name. I’ve been wearing the heck out of my Mac Ruby Woo lipstick, but since it’s matte, I may need to pick up a glossy red. What do you think? What lip colors are you rocking this fall?

Here is another one of her videos, which is a tutorial on how to achieve a beautiful fall make-up look…I love the lipcolor she chose for this one as well (Mac’s Rebel lipstick). The nude lip option is also very pretty (Mac’s Cherish):

Talk to you all soon! xx

Guilty Pleasures…

Hi, my name is Kelli Cole and I am addicted to lipgloss...

So I was in Target last night looking for a particular nail polish (Revlon’s Starry Pink, which I found and cannot wait to use!) and I inevitably threw some lipgloss into my basket. Now, I just told myself the other day that I already had too many, and yet I was about to buy another one! So I put the gloss back and told myself: “Kelli, you have plenty of lipgloss at home!” I put it back and backed away from the Cosmetic section. I managed to get out of Target without buying anything unnecessary (with the exception of the nail polish, of course).  I went home and gathered up all my lipglosses and collected about 22 of them. 22!!! I am not a make-up artist, therefore, I don’t NEED all this lipgloss!! And that does not include my lipsticks…Though I only own a handful (8 to be exact).

So, I said all of this to say that I am not buying any more lipgloss until I use the ones I have!! If you know me personally, you know that this is going to be quite difficult, but I’m going to do it! This isn’t the only thing I am addicted to but you gotta’ start somewhere and take it one day at a time!! Lol…

Perhaps you should challenge yourself to refrain from an obsession that you can’t seem to stop indulging in! If so, let me know how it goes!! Smooches! XOXO

15 Bare Accessory Essentials!!

The following are items that every woman must have in her accessory closet. I actually tried come up with a list of ten must have accessories, but I felt like I was leaving out some vital pieces. You don’t have to buy all these items at once…these are pieces that you can add to your wardrobe over time. However, if you stumble upon some bargains on items you don’t own, then seize the moment…carpe diem!! Of course you can own more than one of each, but if you’re starting from scratch, here is a list of the my Bare Accessory Essentials:

  1. Everyday Handbag
  2. A Pair of Chic Sunglasses
  3. A Pair of Fabulous Earrings
  4. An Eye Catching Scarf
  5. Nail Polish (If you aren’t into painting your nails, that’s okay!)
  6. A Pair of Flat Shoes
  7. A Clutch
  8. A Pair of Stud Earrings
  9. A Timepiece
  10. A Statement Necklace
  11. A Pair of High Heel Shoes (Sandals/Pumps/Peep Toe)
  12. A Cocktail Ring
  13. A Belt
  14. A Pair of Winter Boots
  15. A Bracelet/Bangle

Bonus Essential: Make-Up – Your face doesn’t have to be totally made up on a daily basis, but at least groom your eyebrows and throw on some chapstick or lip gloss! Also make sure that your skin is clear and moisturize…it makes a huge difference!

Final Note: Be sure not to fill your closet with a bunch of expensive, trendy junk…you want the majority of the things in your accessory closet to be items that you can mix-n-match and recreate as time goes on. Obviously, not everything in your closet will last a life time, but you will want these items to at least last you a couple of seasons.

Happy Shopping!! Muah!! XOXO

A Pop of Color: PINK!!

Pink is no longer exclusively for the prim and prissy! As we are quickly approaching summer, I thought I would do a post on all things pink! I actually don’t wear a lot of pink clothing, but I love pink accessories. Here are some miscellaneous pink things I want to add to my collection for summer…check it out and tell me what you think!

Marc Jacobs Iphone Cover, $28 / Juicy Couture Ipad Cover, $48

NARS Nail Polish, $16 / Make Up Forever Lab Shine, $18 / Michael Kors Chronograph, $160

Beach Sexy Victoria's Secret Swim Suit, $40

Marc Jacobs Crossbody Handbag, $525

Now if you are not a fan of the color pink, you can add a different pop of color. Let me also say that wearing all this pink together will definitely be overdoing it! However, feel free to pick and choose various items to add to your summer accessories. I just think a pop of color not only helps brighten your look, but it also helps brighten your mood. Happy Shopping!!

MARCH BEAUTY HAUL!!

You can simply click on the image to enlarge it.

I thought it would be nice to do a haul of some of the beauty products I’ve purchased over the past couple of weeks. I am always watching tutorials and beauty hauls on Youtube and I find some of them quite useful. It’s interesting to see what products people are enjoying. Here are some of my most recent purchases:

  • Pond’s Cold Cream – I use the Pond’s Cold Cream as a cleanser for my face and follow-up with Pond’s Wet Cleansing Towelettes. Both are good for cleansing as well as make-up removal. I also use Pond’s Dry Skin Cream to moisturize my face. ($9 for 9.5 Oz. in CVS)
  • Nail Polishes – As some of you may have noticed, nail polish is my newest obsession! I’ve purchased just a few that I’d like to tell you about.
  1. Re-Fresh Mint by China Glaze – This color makes me want to go get a cup of mint chocolate chip ice cream! It’s a cream color with a very light green tint. If you are looking for an even cheaper version of this color, Sallie Hansen has it in Mint Sorbet. ($5, Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  2. Gunmetal (310) by Sally Hansen (Xtreme Wear) – This color is a frosty dark grey that makes me feel a little dark and edgy and yet feminine and sophisticated. ($2, Target)
  3. Blue Me Away (04) by Sally Hansen (Xtreme Wear) – This color reminds me of blue tropical skittles! It’s comparable to Sephora’s “Slushied” from the Glee Collection, but much cheaper. ($2, Target)
  4. Zulu by NARS – This color is a very dark (almost black) green. It makes me think of dirty money! I’ve never seen a green quite like this, which is why I paid so much for it. ($16, Lord & Taylor)
  5. Sticky Base Coat by Creative Nail Design – As mentioned in one of my previous posts, this base coat is supposed to prevent peeling and chipping. The verdict is still out on this one, but I will definitely let you guys know how I like it and if it actually works! ($9, Ulta)
  • Mac Mineralized Skinfinish in Deep Dark – Because I don’t particularly care for foundation and I don’t need a lot of coverage on my face, this mineralized powder makes my skin appear even without looking too caky or too made up. Loves it! ($27, Mac Cosmetics)
  • Framboise Attraction 3 Blush by Sephora – This is the first blush I’ve ever tried and I am loving it! It is a very subtle pink blush that adds just enough color to my face without looking overdone. ($12, Sephora)
  • The Falsies Volum’ Express by Maybelline – While I love expensive mascaras, the fact remains that drug store mascaras are just as good if not better! I love Falsies, Million Lashes and Voluminous Mascaras so I rotate all three. ($5, Target)
  • Lipsticks – I just recently started wearing lipstick. I am normally a gloss girl, but since I discovered that Mac has a “Back to MAC program,” I’ve been returning my six empty Mac containers in exchange for free lipsticks. Here are my two newest ones:
  1. Girl About Town Lipstick from Mac – Very pretty fuchsia color.  (Free with 6 empty containers, Mac Cosmetics)
  2. Myth Lipstick from Mac – Myth is somewhat of a pale beige that is perfect for a nude lip. ($14.50, Mac Cosmetics)
  • Mac Select Cover-Up Concealer – I have a few dark spots on my face that I like to “conceal” prior to putting my Mineralized Skinfinish powder on so I use this concealer to do so. ($16.50, Mac Cosmetics)
  • Mac Dazzleglass Lip Gloss – Since I’ve already dedicated an entire post to dazzleglass, I won’t go into too many details about it here. I will just tell you which ones I purchased recently: Boy Bait, Like Venus and Date Night. ($19 each, Mac Cosmetics)

If you all decide to try any of the products mentioned above, please be sure to email me at clutchez@gmail.com and let me know how they work for you. Gracias!!! XOXO

MAC Cosmetics: Dazzleglass Lip Gloss

Although I have a few lipsticks that I wear and love, I could never complete my look without lip gloss. My favorite go-to gloss right now is the Dazzleglass and Dazzleglass Creme lip gloss from MAC Cosmetics. This gloss has a sparkle unlike any other gloss I’ve ever seen. When the light hits the small crystals in the gloss, the shine of the lip color really brightens up your face. Last month I purchased Hi Falutin’, Fabulous Fun, and Phiff! from Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th for $12.50 each. Just the other day I purchased Date Night and Like Venus from the MAC counter at Nordies (i.e. Nordstrom) for $18.50 each. I love each and every one of these colors and you may love them too, so be sure to check them out! Listed below are some other colors I’ve tried and would recommend:

  • Extra Amps
  • Love Alert
  • Moth to Flame
  • Money, Honey
  • Sugarrimmed

These glosses can be worn alone or in combination with your favorite lipstick or lip gloss for a more dramatic effect. They go on smoothly and aren’t as thick or as sticky as MAC’s Clear Lipglass or Lipgelee Gloss. If you aren’t wild about Dazzleglass, there are some other glosses that are comparable such as Lancome’s Juicy Tubes and Color Fever Gloss, Victoria’s Secret’s Beauty Rush Lipgloss,  Make Up Forever’s Lab Shine Lip Gloss and Givenchy’s Pop Gloss Crystal. The price points on these glosses range from $7.50 to $26.00 so it’s up to you how much you want to spend.

Trend Alert:

Though I love my lip gloss, I hear that matte lips are in for Spring! I’ve seen some really nice ones by MAC, Nars, Revlon and Shiseido that I plan to try when the weather breaks.
