Gwen Stefani Collabs with OPI

So I have been stalking beauty blogs for weeks now, trying to find out what the Gwen Stefani OPI collection is going to look like. Well, as you can see, I found it!

From left to right:

  1. I Sing In Color (Glossy)
  2. Over and Over A-Gwen (Glossy)
  3. Hey Baby (Glossy)
  4. Love Angel Music Baby (Satin)
  5. Push And Shove (Unknown)
  6. In True Stefani Fashion (Glitter Top Coat)
  7. 4 In The Morning (Satin)

Because I have always been a fan of Gwen Stefani’s music as well as her fashion line (L.A.M.B.), I cannot wait to get my hands on this collection. The colors choices really do seem to represent Stefani, and I am especially excited to try 4 In The Morning (black nail polish is one of my favs right now).  I couldn’t find many details on the 5th color, Push and Shove, so I guess we will have to wait until the collection is released before we can get a real sense of what the color is going to look like. If you are curious to see swatches of the rest of these colors, you can google it. I found a few swatches online, and I think you all will be pleased. This collection is scheduled to be released in January 2014.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to this collaboration?

Half Moon

So I decided to try my hand at a half moon manicure since all the nail salons I called last week couldn’t guarantee me that they had a nail tech that could reproduce the look. In the photos below I used  Revlon’s Bubble Gum and OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls. This manicure is a little more difficult than one might think. Check out the images below and let me know what you all think about my skills (or lack thereof…Lol):

What To Wear: Leopard+

In case you all have not noticed, I decided to change the name of my blog from Clutchez to Clothez & Clutchez. The name change just seemed to makes sense, and I feel like it gives people a better sense of what the blog is actually all about.

What To Wear is going to be a new series here on Clothez and Clutchez. Therefore, I will now be posting outfits at least 2-3 times per month. I really hope you all like the series…I had so much fun shooting these pics:

{Blazer: Urban Outfitters. Top: Nordstrom BP. Boyfriend Jeans: Nordstrom BP. Shoes: Zara. Handbag: Alexander Wang. Necklace: HRH Collection. Timepiece: Michael Kors. Bracelets: Pandora. Sunnies: Tory Burch. Nails: OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook. Lippie: Maybelline Hot Plum.}

Nowadays, I find that I am always wearing leopard of some sort. Today its a blazer, tomorrow it may be shoes, and the next day it may be a clutch.

Traditionally, a lot of women tend to pair leopard with the color red. I thought it would be fun to pair this blazer with a different pop of color instead. This turquoise blue really does the trick, and I think the gold accessories really compliment the contrasts between the colors.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! Be blessed…xx KEL

Special thanks to my photographer for the day, Brandi!!

OPI: Euroso Euro

photo

Here is another swatch I wanted to share with you all from the OPI Euro Centrale Collection. OPI…Euroso Euro is perhaps my second favorite color from this collection so I decided to talk about it today.

Like ‘Can’t Find My Czechbook’, this one was streaky with the first coat. Gosh, that really annoys me, but as I said the other day, with the second coat everything is right in the world again. I find that a lot of cream polishes, despite the brand or the color, tend to be a bit streaky…Some more than others. Regardless though, I love this creamy, purple deliciousness. And I am normally not a fan of purple…

Depending on the lighting, this color sometimes shows up more blue than purple, but OPI…Euroso Euro is definitely a dark purple cream polish. When you see it in person, there will be no mistaking it. The other thing is that it dries to a matte finish, which will also suck for those of you who don’t wear topcoats (and assuming that you don’t like matte finishes).

In the swatches above I used two coats of the nail polish, and one coat of Out the Door topcoat. So far I am really loving the polishes I picked out of the collection…Hot stuff! Talk to you all soon! xx

OPI’s Fly and Save Me

Here are two more colors from OPI’s Nikki Minaj Collection. Fly is definitely my favorite color in the entire collection, hands down! It’s a cream turqouise that is very vibrant and opaque. It can sometimes looks like it has green undertones depending on the lighting. Here are a few swatches:

I added Save Me to my ring finger and love it so much! This is a very unique halographic glitter…Instead of the traditional hexagonal glitter, they used skinny, rectangular strands. Click on the pictures to see this glitter up close:

OPI’s Pink Friday

So I recently received Nikki Minaj’s OPI collection and I’ve been trying out each of the colors one by one…The first one I tried was Pink Friday, which I posted on my Instagram (@alwayzkel). I definitely like it, but there isn’t anything extraordinary about it. While it is a pretty color, I am pretty sure that I’ve seen several pinks like this before…Though, I must also say that this pink is soooo Nikki! I have definitely seen Nikki Minaj rock a pink like this on many occassions and it totally fits her personality.  Check it out for yourself:

I’ll be sure to swatch the rest of the collection for you all so that you can decide if you want to purchase it or not…I purchased the entire collection on Ebay, and paid significantly less than what they costs in retail stores. And if you already have the collection or colors from the collection, let me know what you think of it. Smooches! XOXO

BTW: Notice that I swatched this color on my right hand…Ha! I’m learning! Lol

Fall Nails

I combed through my nail polish collection to see if I had the essential colors for Fall, and I do! Rusts/coppers, nudes, blues, greens, reds/corals and gunmetals are all in this fall. I’ve swatched all of the colors you will need, and even added some colors to keep things interesting. Personally, I can’t walk around with dark colors on my hands for several months (so depressing!) so I had to throw some wildcards into the mix.

Starting at the top with the black, I will list the colors and brands clockwise:

  1. Liquid Leather – China Glaze
  2. Revvvolution – Color Club
  3. Gunmetal – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  4. Pink (It’s actually a peach color)- Love and Beauty
  5. Hi Def – Sephora
  6. Monsooner or Later – OPI
  7. Hot Magenta – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  8. Purple Panic – China Glaze
  9. Let’s Talk – Sinful Colors
  10. Yoga-Ta Get This Blue – OPI
  11. Frostbite – China Glaze
  12. Blue It – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  13. Ocean View – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  14. Read My Palm – Sephora
  15. The Real Teal – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  16. Dance Teal Dawn – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  17. Emerald City – Revlon
  18. Teal We Meet Again – Sephora

MAY BEAUTY HAUL!!

I meant to do a haul in April, but since I didn’t today’s haul will be a combination of my April and May beauty purchases. There are a couple of products in this haul that were recommended to me and I have been quite pleased with them. I’ve broken the products down into four categories: Hair, Nails, Make-Up, and Skin Care.

Hair

  • L’oreal Paris EverStrong Sulfate Free Hydrate Shampoo/Conditioner – This shampoo and conditioner combo is designed to protect your hair from breakage. It doesn’t have any drying salts so it doesn’t strip your hair of moisture. Lastly, it has a clean minty scent that tingles when massaged into your scalp. Loves it!! My hair feels and smells so good every time I use these ($5.99 each, Target).
  • Tresemme’s Thermal Creations: Heat Tamer Spray – This spray smells soooo good and is designed to protect your hair from heat damage that is often a result of using blow dryers and curling/flat irons. It also adds a light sheen to the hair after heat is applied to it (About $5.99, Target).

Nails

  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Blew It (250) – This is a gorgeous dark blue with a beautiful shimmer. Comparable to China Glaze’s Frostbite, but it a bit darker ($2, Target).
  • O.P.I. Nail Laquer in Yoga-Ta Get This Blue! – This is a beautiful dark blue (darker than Blew It) that looks amazing in sunlight ($9.50, Ulta).
  • Ulta Nail Laquer in Dance Teal Dawn – This color is an iridescent dark green ($5, Ulta).
  • China Glaze Nail Laquer:
  1. Pink Voltage (Neon) – Hot pink with an iridescent opal reflection. ($5.99, Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  2. Turned up Turquoise (Neon) – This is a super bright turquoise that actually looks like a bright green in certain lighting. Love it! (Free with purchase at Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  3. Purple Panic (Neon) – Actually looks pink with a purple reflection, but is a hot color!! ($3, Head2ToeBeauty.com) *When I do my favorite nail polish haul, I will swatch all of these polishes for you guys…
  • Burt Bees Lemon Cuticle Oil – I heard about this cuticle oil in one of MissChievous’ (http://www.misschievous.tv/) nail tutorials on Youtube and I love it! It moisturizes my cuticles and keeps them from looking and feeling dry. BTW,  you should check out her nail videos on Youtube…My nails have grown consistently over the pass couple of months thanks to her recommendations ($5.99, Target).

Skin Care

  • Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Cleansing Pads – These cleansing pads are designed to help to prevent breakouts, exfoliate skin, and even out your skin tone. What I love about them is that they have little exfoliating beads on one side of the pads, but is flat on the other. So you can choose whether you want to do a deep cleanse or a regular one (About $5, Target).
  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (with SPF 30 sunscreen) – This moisturizer is designed to even out your skin tone and protect your skin from the sun. Not sure if it actually works at this point, but I will keep you all posted on the results (About $14, Target).
  • Olay Oil Minimizing Toner (with Witch Hazel) – This toner helps you to remove oil, dirt and make-up from your skin. It is great and visibly gets a lot of dirt/dead skin off of your face (About $5, Target).
  • Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum – The verdict is still out on this product. I am not sure that it actually makes a difference in your pore size. I think that I see a difference but it could quite possibly be my imagination! Lol…It does make your face feel super soft, but I will keep you guys posted on how well this product works for me ($39, Nordstrom).

Make-Up

  • Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion – Nice eyeshadow base. Keeps my eyeshadow from creasing for the most part ($18, Sephora).
  • Wet’N’Wild Creme Liner- I love, love, love this creme eyeliner. It goes on so smoothly and lasts all day. The only think I don’t like about it is that it bleeds onto your upper lid if you don’t have an eyeshadow or base on your eyelids, but for $4 what more can you ask for?! ($3.99, CVS).
  • Wet’N’Wild Blush in Heather Silk – This blush is very subtle, but pigmented enough to create the perfect pink cheek. ($2.99, Rite Aid).
  • YSL Faux Cils Mascara  – I’ve had this mascara for a little over a week and I am having a love/hate relationship with it. The first time I used it I thought it was amazing! The third time, it seemed a little clumpy. I don’t know if I just got an older one that has been sitting but there is something about this mascara that I don’t like. I will say that when I put it on that my lashes are super duper LONG! And it does give great volume as well. However, I don’t think it’s worth $30. Stick with the drugstore mascara ladies!! ($30, Nordstrom).
  • YSL Lipgloss (#7) – This gloss is gorgeous! It looks like a pale pink in the bottle and goes on somewhat sheer. It smells amazing…Still trying to determine if its worth $30…Lol ($30, Nordstrom).
  • Precision Sponge – This sponge is made by Sephora and is comparable to the Beauty Blender that is so popular. It can be used (wet) to put on foundation, blush, or concealer. It is rounded on one end and pointed on the other end for precise application in the nooks and crannies of the face…The verdict is still out on this one as well ($12, Sephora).
  • Make-Up Forever Concealer – I had heard about this concealer on http://www.thefancyface.com (a great beauty blogger), and I decided to try it and I love it! The application is really smooth and the concealer does not move once you put it on, which is the problem I had with the Mac concealer I use ($30, Sephora).
  • Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm – This lip balm is nice though there is nothing spectacular about it. I only bought it because I had absolutely no chap stick and it is nice when you just want to moisturize your lips without being all glossed up and shiney! ($2.99, Target).

I hope this information is useful, but if you should have any questions or comments, let me know! XOXO
