Ulta Made Me Do It…

Every time I turn around Ulta is having a sale of some sort. 20% off, buy one/get one half off, $5.00 off your purchase, etc. Not to mention the fact that you can gain so many points and get money off your purchases as well.  Needless to say that I used this opportunity to pick up a few Sally Hansen nail polishes that were on my wish list:

Blue My Mind (Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure)

Blue My Mind is absolutely gorgeous!!! It reminds me of China Glaze’s Frostbite, which is probably why it caught my eye. I am a sucker for blue nail polishes and this is no exception. The formula is amazing and the color payoff is wonderful. But that price! It retails for about $8, which is kind of expensive for a drugstore nail polish, but I think its well worth it.

Dive In (Sally Hansen Triple Shine)

Dive In is much more subtle than I was expecting, but its a beautiful color nonetheless. The first coat was a bit thin and streaky, but I only needed two coats to achieve the look in the photo above. Sally Hansen has a lot of vibrant colors in this particular line so if you are in need of a super pigmented color, check it out!

Are you a fan of Sally Hansen nail polishes? Is there any particular line that you like? I looking forward to trying more colors!! I hope you all are enjoying your week!! xx

Revlon Parfumerie: African Tea Rose

Revlon’s new Parfumerie nail polishes are adorable!! While I am not wild about this particular color (looks better here than it does in natural lighting), I have to say that the formulas and scents of these polishes are on point. Check out the swatches below:

And how cute is this bottle?! Not to mention that my nails literally smelled like roses (not the stinky ones either). for an entire day. This is going to sound weird, but I could not stop smelling my nails when I was wearing this color…I love the scent! The thing is though, it smells like regular nail polish up until your nails dry. So don’t go smelling these in the drugstore…Lol

If you’d like to try these nail polishes out, they are actually on sale at Ulta right now for buy one, get one 50% off. They have a wide range of colors that I’m sure will fit your taste, and they retail for $5.99 each. Have any of you gals tried this nail polish yet? If so, what did you think? Lately, I’ve been trying to get more into drugstore nail polishes since they are a lot more affordable.

Side Note: Is your week dragging as slowly as mine!? I am so ready for this holiday weekend! Talk to you all soon! xx

Ulta Haul

20130916-111315.jpg

I haven’t really been in the shopping mood recently (I’ve only been to the mall like once in the past several weeks), but I was excited to go to Ulta with my mom and my sister Sunday. I picked up a few things that I’ve been wanting to try and other products that I have used up and wanted to replenish.

So I bought two Maybelline lipsticks from their Sensational Vivids line. Wild Rose (on the left) and On Fire Red (on the right) were my picks. I also picked up two of Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lip glosses in Snow Pink and Sugar Violet. I had Sugar Violet already but it’s practically gone now.

Of course, I had to pick up my favorite nail polish remover, which is made by Ulta. I am telling you, all you have to do is stick your nails in and they come out clean with very little work. Love this remover! And yes, I needed two!

All Maybelline and Revlon products were buy one, get one 50% off so I got a pretty good deal on these lippies. I also had a $3.50 off coupon, which always helps. There were a ton of things on sale, so you may want to check out your local Ulta stores when you get a chance.

I hope everyone is enjoying their week! xx

Mint Leopard Remix

IMG_5542Nail polish is such a fun accessory, I just can’t stay away from it. I bought this OPI color a few weeks ago, but it was so difficult to photograph I never posted it here on the blog. I figured if I placed it in front of a contrasting color/print it would show up better. And sure enough, it is showing up true to color here.

Ulta was having a sale on OPI polishes, buy 2 and get 1 free, so I snagged this one, which had been on my wish list for quite some time. It’s called Gargantuan Green Grape. That’s a mouthful, isn’t it? Nonetheless, it is a gorgeous mint green. Everyone is obsessing over Essie’s Mint Candy Apple, which is nice, but I like the formula on this one better. Plus the color doesn’t look as chalking, in my opinion. You’ll need about three thin coats for the color to be opaque.

If you’re curious about the wallet, I bought it last year during Nordstrom’s anniversary sale. This Halogen wallet is a year old but is still one of my favorites.

BTW, this year Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale begins on July 19th, but for Nordstrom cardholder’s the early access to the sale begins tomorrow. Therefore, I’ll be spamming you guys with previews of the goodies once I’ve had a chance to scope the scenes! Talk to you all soon! xx

Massive Nail Polish Haul

Okay, I know, I know, this is a lot of nail polish to collect in a month and a half, but I couldn’t resist!! Between Ulta, http://www.head2toebeauty.com, Target, Walmart and Sally’s Beauty Supply I have collected WAY TOO MUCH POLISH, but I am loving and wearing them all!!

I have some swatches below that I know a lot of you guys (gals!) would be interested in so let’s get right into it. Click on the pictures to enlarge them so that you can see the colors up close:

Natural Light

I’ve taken pictures of these swatches in various lighting because, believe it or not, your polish looks different depending on the lighting. Here are the names and brands of each from left to right:

  1. Milani: Totally 80’s (Target)
  2. Wet’N’Wild: The Wonder Yellows (Walmart)
  3. Revlon: Minted (Target)
  4. Essie: Turquoise and Caicos (Ulta)
  5. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: The Real Teal (Ulta)
  6. Sally Hansen HD: Blu (Target)
  7. Sinful Colors: Let’s Talk (Target)
  8. Color Club: Pure Energy (Head2toe)
  9. Color Club: Poptastic (Head2toe)
  10. Color Club: Revvvolution (holographic) (Head2toe)
  11. China Glaze Crackle Metal: Oxidized Aqua (The polish underneath is Frostbite by China Glaze) (Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  12. China Glaze Crackle Metal: Platinum Pieces (The polish underneath is Frostbite by China Glaze) (Sally’s Beauty Supply)

There are a few other China Glaze Crackle Metals that I want but Sally’s only had the two I mentioned above and Broken Medallion (which I didn’t want). I need Tarnished Gold, and Haute Metal (and maybe Latticed Lilac)…We shall see if I can get my hands on them! Here’s a link to the video demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diYAChyhqBg&feature=player_embedded

BONUS: Sally Hansen Salon Effects

I’ve seen advertisements for these in several magazines and I’ve been wanting to try them for a long time. I was debating because $8-$9 is a lot to spend on nail strips for one-time only use. I am excited to report that I am very pleased with them. Kitty, Kitty is definitely my favorite out of all of the designs. I tried Frock Star, but I couldn’t get with all that glitter! Here is the swatch for Kitty, Kitty:

Stayed tuned for more tips and recommendations on nail polish and nail care…Smooches!! XOXO

MAY BEAUTY HAUL!!

I meant to do a haul in April, but since I didn’t today’s haul will be a combination of my April and May beauty purchases. There are a couple of products in this haul that were recommended to me and I have been quite pleased with them. I’ve broken the products down into four categories: Hair, Nails, Make-Up, and Skin Care.

Hair

  • L’oreal Paris EverStrong Sulfate Free Hydrate Shampoo/Conditioner – This shampoo and conditioner combo is designed to protect your hair from breakage. It doesn’t have any drying salts so it doesn’t strip your hair of moisture. Lastly, it has a clean minty scent that tingles when massaged into your scalp. Loves it!! My hair feels and smells so good every time I use these ($5.99 each, Target).
  • Tresemme’s Thermal Creations: Heat Tamer Spray – This spray smells soooo good and is designed to protect your hair from heat damage that is often a result of using blow dryers and curling/flat irons. It also adds a light sheen to the hair after heat is applied to it (About $5.99, Target).

Nails

  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Blew It (250) – This is a gorgeous dark blue with a beautiful shimmer. Comparable to China Glaze’s Frostbite, but it a bit darker ($2, Target).
  • O.P.I. Nail Laquer in Yoga-Ta Get This Blue! – This is a beautiful dark blue (darker than Blew It) that looks amazing in sunlight ($9.50, Ulta).
  • Ulta Nail Laquer in Dance Teal Dawn – This color is an iridescent dark green ($5, Ulta).
  • China Glaze Nail Laquer:
  1. Pink Voltage (Neon) – Hot pink with an iridescent opal reflection. ($5.99, Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  2. Turned up Turquoise (Neon) – This is a super bright turquoise that actually looks like a bright green in certain lighting. Love it! (Free with purchase at Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  3. Purple Panic (Neon) – Actually looks pink with a purple reflection, but is a hot color!! ($3, Head2ToeBeauty.com) *When I do my favorite nail polish haul, I will swatch all of these polishes for you guys…
  • Burt Bees Lemon Cuticle Oil – I heard about this cuticle oil in one of MissChievous’ (http://www.misschievous.tv/) nail tutorials on Youtube and I love it! It moisturizes my cuticles and keeps them from looking and feeling dry. BTW,  you should check out her nail videos on Youtube…My nails have grown consistently over the pass couple of months thanks to her recommendations ($5.99, Target).

Skin Care

  • Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Cleansing Pads – These cleansing pads are designed to help to prevent breakouts, exfoliate skin, and even out your skin tone. What I love about them is that they have little exfoliating beads on one side of the pads, but is flat on the other. So you can choose whether you want to do a deep cleanse or a regular one (About $5, Target).
  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (with SPF 30 sunscreen) – This moisturizer is designed to even out your skin tone and protect your skin from the sun. Not sure if it actually works at this point, but I will keep you all posted on the results (About $14, Target).
  • Olay Oil Minimizing Toner (with Witch Hazel) – This toner helps you to remove oil, dirt and make-up from your skin. It is great and visibly gets a lot of dirt/dead skin off of your face (About $5, Target).
  • Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum – The verdict is still out on this product. I am not sure that it actually makes a difference in your pore size. I think that I see a difference but it could quite possibly be my imagination! Lol…It does make your face feel super soft, but I will keep you guys posted on how well this product works for me ($39, Nordstrom).

Make-Up

  • Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion – Nice eyeshadow base. Keeps my eyeshadow from creasing for the most part ($18, Sephora).
  • Wet’N’Wild Creme Liner- I love, love, love this creme eyeliner. It goes on so smoothly and lasts all day. The only think I don’t like about it is that it bleeds onto your upper lid if you don’t have an eyeshadow or base on your eyelids, but for $4 what more can you ask for?! ($3.99, CVS).
  • Wet’N’Wild Blush in Heather Silk – This blush is very subtle, but pigmented enough to create the perfect pink cheek. ($2.99, Rite Aid).
  • YSL Faux Cils Mascara  – I’ve had this mascara for a little over a week and I am having a love/hate relationship with it. The first time I used it I thought it was amazing! The third time, it seemed a little clumpy. I don’t know if I just got an older one that has been sitting but there is something about this mascara that I don’t like. I will say that when I put it on that my lashes are super duper LONG! And it does give great volume as well. However, I don’t think it’s worth $30. Stick with the drugstore mascara ladies!! ($30, Nordstrom).
  • YSL Lipgloss (#7) – This gloss is gorgeous! It looks like a pale pink in the bottle and goes on somewhat sheer. It smells amazing…Still trying to determine if its worth $30…Lol ($30, Nordstrom).
  • Precision Sponge – This sponge is made by Sephora and is comparable to the Beauty Blender that is so popular. It can be used (wet) to put on foundation, blush, or concealer. It is rounded on one end and pointed on the other end for precise application in the nooks and crannies of the face…The verdict is still out on this one as well ($12, Sephora).
  • Make-Up Forever Concealer – I had heard about this concealer on http://www.thefancyface.com (a great beauty blogger), and I decided to try it and I love it! The application is really smooth and the concealer does not move once you put it on, which is the problem I had with the Mac concealer I use ($30, Sephora).
  • Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm – This lip balm is nice though there is nothing spectacular about it. I only bought it because I had absolutely no chap stick and it is nice when you just want to moisturize your lips without being all glossed up and shiney! ($2.99, Target).

I hope this information is useful, but if you should have any questions or comments, let me know! XOXO
