Beauty Obsessions

DSCN0154

Raise your hand if you beat your face even when you are going to be sitting in the house. Don’t be ashamed!! I do it all the time. There is nothing like thick brows, an even face, voluminous lashes, and a bangin’ lipstick no matter what you may have going on. Even if your outfit isn’t completely there, as long as your face and hair (and nails) are decent, no one can tell you anything! At least that’s how I feel about it!

Here are some of my beauty obsessions that I use practically on a daily basis:

  1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation (Shade 11.0)
  2. Mac’s Rebel Lipstick
  3. Make Up Forever’s Smoky Lash Mascara
  4. Mac’s Prolong Wear Concealer (NW40)
  5. Mac’s Mineralized Skin Finish (Deep Dark)
  6. Wet’n Wild’s Red Velvet Lipstick (910D)
  7. Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment (Clear)
  8. Mac’s Eyebrow Pencil (Spiked)
  9. Sigma’s Flat Kabuki Brush
  10. Loreal’s Voluminous Fiber Mascara

In case you wanted to know what the lipsticks look like, here are some swatches of each:

DSCN0168

Although I love natural looking make up, I often get bored with nude lips. These two lipsticks really make my look pop. No matter what your skin tone is, trust that you will like both…At the very least, try the Wet’N Wild one, which is only $2 in CVS. You can’t beat that!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and if you have any questions about the products mentioned, please feel free to ask! xx…Kel

My Beauty Favs

There are some make-up products that I absolutely cannot live without!! Well, perhaps I could live without a few of these, but I don’t want to! Check out all of my favorite go-to products at the moment:

  1. Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar – I use this brow box every single day! It includes everything you need to groom, tweeze and fill-in your eyebrows. It even includes a tiny angled brush!
  2. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Trinidad – This foundation goes on very smooth and sheer, which works well for me since I don’t necessarily need full coverage. I normally set it with Mac’s Mineralized Skin Finish.
  3. Mac Mineralized Skin Finish in Deep Dark – I’ve been using this powder for a few years now and I still love it. For days when I don’t want to go through the process of beating my entire face, I will wear this alone instead of foundation. In the sun, it has a little shimmer to it, which gives a nice glow.
  4. NARS Blush in Amour – I just recently purchased this blush, but I am loving it so far. Even though I have to reapply it during the day, I find that it is very pigmented.
  5. Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner Pen in Black – I’ve tried a lot of eyeliners, but I love this one because once you put it on, it does not move! I have oily eyelids so for the most part my eyeliners usually transfer onto my upper lids when I don’t wear eyeshadow. I don’t have that problem with this eyeliner. Feels like I am lining my eyes with a sharpie!
  6. Maybelline Falsies Flared Mascara in Black – I love YSL’s Radical Noir Mascara, but since that is $30 and this one is only $6…I am settling for the Maybelline Falsies Flared! Regardless, this mascara is great. It elongates my lashes and if I apply more than one coat then I get great volume without looking overdone. I definitely think this is one of the best drug store mascaras…
  7. Revlon Lipstick in Fuchsia Fusion – I had been wearing Mac’s Girl About Town, but I find that it can be quite drying so when I heard that Revlon had a color that was similar, I decided to try it. I love this color, it really brightens my face and makes me feel like a true grown up!

I am normally a gloss girl, but somehow lipsticks have crept their way into my life…Lol. I didn’t list any eyeshadows because I haven’t been wearing eyeshadows much lately. When I do, I either use the Urban Decay Naked Palette or the NYX Runway Collection Palette in Champagne and Caviar (both are neutral colored palettes).

June – July Beauty Haul/Favorites

I’m not going to list all of the beauty products I’ve purchased over the past 2 months, but I will list the ones I think are noteworthy. Let’s start with the make-up…

Make-Up:

Urban Decay Naked Palette – I’ve been wanting this palette for quite some time. It has very nuetral colors that work well for me since I don’t wear bright colors on my eyes. It comes with an eyeshadow brush and a small bottle of Urban Decay Primer Potion. Great for brown smokey eye looks. (Sephora, $48)

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner Pen – I love this eyeliner. It goes on very smooth and is quite easy to use. I have oily lids, and with many other eyeliners, if I don’t have on eyeshadow my eyeliner transfers onto my upper lid, which looks terrible. This eyeliner doesn’t do that at all. Loves it! (Target, About $7)

Maybelline Falsies Flared – I would def say that this mascara is comparable to many department store mascaras (i.e. YSL Faux Cils, which I’ve previously blogged about). This mascara elongates my lashes and gives me a lot of volume without clumping. (Target About $6)

Nail Polish:

Here is the list of the nail polish from left to right:

  1. China Glaze – Fairy Dust (Sally’s, About $3.99)
  2. Revlon – Pink Chiffon (Target, About $3.75)
  3. China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy (Sally’s, About $3.99)
  4.  Forever 21’s Love and Beauty – Light Aqua (Forever 21, $2.80)
  5. Forever 21’s Love and Beauty – Pink (Forever 21, $2.80)
  6. Forever 21’s Love and Beauty – Periwinkle (Forever 21, $2.80)

UD 15-Year Anniversary Palette

Many bloggers and Youtubers have been raving about Urban Decay’s Naked Palette. However, UD recently released their fall collection, which includes the 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette that just might trump the Naked Palette everyone has been so obsessed with. This palette includes a range of shadows from bright, deep, pigmented colors to neutral, bronze tones…Perfect for those of you who are a bit more bold and daring when it comes to eye makeup. It is more veratile than the Naked Palette, which was meant for a more natural look, and it’s going for about $55. Check it out below:

You can pick this up on UD’s website: http://www.urbandecay.com/15-year-anniversary-eyeshadow-collection/308,default,pd.html

Style Icon Alert: June Ambrose

The infamous stylist, June Ambrose, specializes in being effortlessly fab and I am loving it!!! I am always curious to see what she will be rocking with her signature red matte lipstick, unique turbans, and chic sunglasses. Her accessories are always on point. She doesn’t seem to be big on earrings as she is always wearing studs. Necklaces, bracelets, and timepieces seem to be her jewelry of choice. When she isn’t rocking a turban, her tresses are usually in long, black, loose spiral curls.

Although her style can be a little over the top at times, she knows when to tone it down. It is obvious that she doesn’t shy away from statement pieces, but she believes that women should have wearable pieces in their closets that include things that they really admire…things that are timeless and classic.

If you’ve been craving her signature turban look I am excited to inform you that she has come out with her own line of turbans.  Check it out at http://juneambrose.bigcartel.com/. Don’t get it twisted though…these turbans do not come cheap!

Check out some of her looks below:

MAY BEAUTY HAUL!!

I meant to do a haul in April, but since I didn’t today’s haul will be a combination of my April and May beauty purchases. There are a couple of products in this haul that were recommended to me and I have been quite pleased with them. I’ve broken the products down into four categories: Hair, Nails, Make-Up, and Skin Care.

Hair

  • L’oreal Paris EverStrong Sulfate Free Hydrate Shampoo/Conditioner – This shampoo and conditioner combo is designed to protect your hair from breakage. It doesn’t have any drying salts so it doesn’t strip your hair of moisture. Lastly, it has a clean minty scent that tingles when massaged into your scalp. Loves it!! My hair feels and smells so good every time I use these ($5.99 each, Target).
  • Tresemme’s Thermal Creations: Heat Tamer Spray – This spray smells soooo good and is designed to protect your hair from heat damage that is often a result of using blow dryers and curling/flat irons. It also adds a light sheen to the hair after heat is applied to it (About $5.99, Target).

Nails

  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Blew It (250) – This is a gorgeous dark blue with a beautiful shimmer. Comparable to China Glaze’s Frostbite, but it a bit darker ($2, Target).
  • O.P.I. Nail Laquer in Yoga-Ta Get This Blue! – This is a beautiful dark blue (darker than Blew It) that looks amazing in sunlight ($9.50, Ulta).
  • Ulta Nail Laquer in Dance Teal Dawn – This color is an iridescent dark green ($5, Ulta).
  • China Glaze Nail Laquer:
  1. Pink Voltage (Neon) – Hot pink with an iridescent opal reflection. ($5.99, Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  2. Turned up Turquoise (Neon) – This is a super bright turquoise that actually looks like a bright green in certain lighting. Love it! (Free with purchase at Sally’s Beauty Supply)
  3. Purple Panic (Neon) – Actually looks pink with a purple reflection, but is a hot color!! ($3, Head2ToeBeauty.com) *When I do my favorite nail polish haul, I will swatch all of these polishes for you guys…
  • Burt Bees Lemon Cuticle Oil – I heard about this cuticle oil in one of MissChievous’ (http://www.misschievous.tv/) nail tutorials on Youtube and I love it! It moisturizes my cuticles and keeps them from looking and feeling dry. BTW,  you should check out her nail videos on Youtube…My nails have grown consistently over the pass couple of months thanks to her recommendations ($5.99, Target).

Skin Care

  • Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Cleansing Pads – These cleansing pads are designed to help to prevent breakouts, exfoliate skin, and even out your skin tone. What I love about them is that they have little exfoliating beads on one side of the pads, but is flat on the other. So you can choose whether you want to do a deep cleanse or a regular one (About $5, Target).
  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (with SPF 30 sunscreen) – This moisturizer is designed to even out your skin tone and protect your skin from the sun. Not sure if it actually works at this point, but I will keep you all posted on the results (About $14, Target).
  • Olay Oil Minimizing Toner (with Witch Hazel) – This toner helps you to remove oil, dirt and make-up from your skin. It is great and visibly gets a lot of dirt/dead skin off of your face (About $5, Target).
  • Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum – The verdict is still out on this product. I am not sure that it actually makes a difference in your pore size. I think that I see a difference but it could quite possibly be my imagination! Lol…It does make your face feel super soft, but I will keep you guys posted on how well this product works for me ($39, Nordstrom).

Make-Up

  • Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion – Nice eyeshadow base. Keeps my eyeshadow from creasing for the most part ($18, Sephora).
  • Wet’N’Wild Creme Liner- I love, love, love this creme eyeliner. It goes on so smoothly and lasts all day. The only think I don’t like about it is that it bleeds onto your upper lid if you don’t have an eyeshadow or base on your eyelids, but for $4 what more can you ask for?! ($3.99, CVS).
  • Wet’N’Wild Blush in Heather Silk – This blush is very subtle, but pigmented enough to create the perfect pink cheek. ($2.99, Rite Aid).
  • YSL Faux Cils Mascara  – I’ve had this mascara for a little over a week and I am having a love/hate relationship with it. The first time I used it I thought it was amazing! The third time, it seemed a little clumpy. I don’t know if I just got an older one that has been sitting but there is something about this mascara that I don’t like. I will say that when I put it on that my lashes are super duper LONG! And it does give great volume as well. However, I don’t think it’s worth $30. Stick with the drugstore mascara ladies!! ($30, Nordstrom).
  • YSL Lipgloss (#7) – This gloss is gorgeous! It looks like a pale pink in the bottle and goes on somewhat sheer. It smells amazing…Still trying to determine if its worth $30…Lol ($30, Nordstrom).
  • Precision Sponge – This sponge is made by Sephora and is comparable to the Beauty Blender that is so popular. It can be used (wet) to put on foundation, blush, or concealer. It is rounded on one end and pointed on the other end for precise application in the nooks and crannies of the face…The verdict is still out on this one as well ($12, Sephora).
  • Make-Up Forever Concealer – I had heard about this concealer on http://www.thefancyface.com (a great beauty blogger), and I decided to try it and I love it! The application is really smooth and the concealer does not move once you put it on, which is the problem I had with the Mac concealer I use ($30, Sephora).
  • Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm – This lip balm is nice though there is nothing spectacular about it. I only bought it because I had absolutely no chap stick and it is nice when you just want to moisturize your lips without being all glossed up and shiney! ($2.99, Target).

I hope this information is useful, but if you should have any questions or comments, let me know! XOXO
