Glitter Wasted: Zoya’s Dream and Mosheen

So I ordered some polishes from Zoya when they were having their awesome promotions a few weeks ago. Dream and Mosheen from their Zenith collection had been on my wish list since they first came out so I had to cop them. Dream is a gorgeous dark blue jelly polish with holographic glitter. BANGIN’…Mosheen is an ice blue glitter top coat with turquoise bar glitters. It definitely can’t be worn alone but is very pretty over Dream if you can handle that much glitter on one nail. Check out the swatches below:

Glitter nails are always on trend for the holidays so I figured that this was a good nail polish selection with New Year’s right around the corner…

Did you guys catch any of Zoya’s promotions? Do you own any of these colors? If so, how do you like them? Zoya also just came out with their Natural Collection, which you can check out here. Talk to you all soon! xx

Fall Favorites

DSCN0679

These are a few of my favorites things…

Michael Kors Selena Satchel: I bought this bag during the Bloomingdale’s family and friends discount sale, and I have been wearing it every since. I love that it is structured and can stand alone no matter how you pack your items into it. I also love the gold hardware since I have been wearing gold a lot lately.

Alice and Olivia Starbucks Mug/Lipton Green Teas: Who doesn’t want to drink their tea out of an adorable cup?! I purchased this cup at Starbucks not too long ago and I am so in love with it. I am also addicted to these Lipton green teas, which I have been drinking out of my mug. I drink green tea EVERY SINGLE DAY now! Every since I went to Teavana and tasted their amazing tea blends, I had to find something comparable. Red Goji Raspberry (Wegmans) and Purple Acai Blueberry (Wegmans/Walmart) are my favorites.

Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Body Mist: This body mist is so light and fresh. I smelled the perfume and instantly fell in love, but I didn’t want to pay $55 for it. So I bought the smaller size to see how it worked with my body chemistry. Now I carry it in my bag and spray it whenever I feel  the urge to…Go smell it when you have some free time…

Favorite Nail Polishes at the Moment: Orly’s Pretty Ugly, Zoya’s Raven, and Formula X’s Zing. The clear nail polish is my new base coat…Rejuvacote is a nail strengthener that I had heard a lot of great things about. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I definitely like the results. Even though my nails still have the tendency to break, its only a chip here and there. They are much stronger than they have been.

The Art of War for Writers and Bird by Bird: I’ve had these books forever, but I have recently been rereading them to get some literary inspiration. I am working on developing a book idea I have and these books are helping me quite a bit. One thing I have learned from them is that you must write every day and at the same time every day. It’s also helpful if you to pretend that there is an imaginary gun to your head so that you don’t get up before you’re supposed to (only other writers/inspiring writings will understand that). LOL…Anne Lamott talks a lot about how you must quiet all the distractions (internally and externally) so that you can get to magic…the writing! I know this all sounds crazy, but I am learning that writing has to become a habit. I’m still working on that…

Gwen Stefani Collabs with OPI

So I have been stalking beauty blogs for weeks now, trying to find out what the Gwen Stefani OPI collection is going to look like. Well, as you can see, I found it!

1455178_698495506827582_883814111_n

From left to right:

  1. I Sing In Color (Glossy)
  2. Over and Over A-Gwen (Glossy)
  3. Hey Baby (Glossy)
  4. Love Angel Music Baby (Satin)
  5. Push And Shove (Unknown)
  6. In True Stefani Fashion (Glitter Top Coat)
  7. 4 In The Morning (Satin)

Because I have always been a fan of Gwen Stefani’s music as well as her fashion line (L.A.M.B.), I cannot wait to get my hands on this collection. The colors choices really do seem to represent Stefani, and I am especially excited to try 4 In The Morning (black nail polish is one of my favs right now).  I couldn’t find many details on the 5th color, Push and Shove, so I guess we will have to wait until the collection is released before we can get a real sense of what the color is going to look like. If you are curious to see swatches of the rest of these colors, you can google it. I found a few swatches online, and I think you all will be pleased. This collection is scheduled to be released in January 2014.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to this collaboration?

Accessory Crush: Vita Fede

vita fede

I used to be to really into jewelry, but lately I have been rolling with just my Pandora bracelets and my Michael Kors watch. I rarely ever see jewelry that really excites me. A few weeks ago, however, I came across Vita Fede on Instagram (@vitafede). First, the founder/designer, Cynthia Sakai has the cutest style ever, and she stays rocking a fresh mani (you guys know I love that). Second, I absolutely love the jewelry…

Vita Fede is an LA based company that focuses on creating jewelry that is inspired by contemporary art and architecture. Each piece is handcrafted and made in Italy. The designs comes in sterling silver, 24k gold, and brass. Sakai also uses natural stones and Swarovski crystals in her designs as well:

Oh.Em.Geee. I love it all. Although these sorts of bracelets have been around for a while, I love the way she adds a very modern spin to these classic designs.

While I think the stacks are adorable, I would be satisfied with just one or two bracelets and a ring, which I’ll obviously be saving up for.

You can find out more about Vita Fede and their designs here. xx

Formula X

So today I have a few swatches for you guys from Sephora’s new Formula X nail polish line. So Sephora  decided to discontinue their Sephora by OPI line and replace it with Formula X. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. While I love the OPI brand, the Sephora by OPI polishes definitely left something to be desired in the creativity department. I have only two polishes from that line that I actually love (both are glitter top coats: Traffic Stopper Copper and I Found a Pot of Gold). The Formula X line, however, consists of tons of nail colors with a multitude of finishes/textures.

Here are a few swatches of my favorites so far:

High Frequency with Drawn To You as an accent nail.

Zing

These polishes are amaze balls {insert heart-eyed emoji)!!!!!!! The formulas aren’t too thin or too thick, and the colors are very pigmented. With these two colors I only needed one coat of nail polish.

I love these polishes so much, I have purchased 9 colors since they came out in October. There are more that I want to try but because I already have so many color so I will try to refrain. Lol…I’ll be sure to swatch the rest for you all, but I think you’ll love them as much as I do.

You can purchase Formula X polishes in any Sephora store, as well as on their website: www.sephora.com. The price point is from $10-$12.50. Luckily, I was able to purchase most of mine during the VIB 20% off sale.

Have you guys tried these polishes yet? If so, I am curious to know what you think about them.

I hope everyone is having a blessed week…I’m soooo looking forward to Thanksgiving! Talk to you soon. xx

Fashionistas Read Too: Orange Is The New Black

DSCN0656

I know that most of you have seen Orange Is the New Black (OITNB ) on Netflix. If you haven’t then you must be living under a rock! I watched the entire series in 2 days. I wanted to read the book before watching the show, but from looking at the trailers, I just couldn’t wait. And yes, I am def that annoying person who must read the book before I see the movie (or series) they are based on. And I always feel compelled to judge whether or not the movies are as good as the books…They never are…

Normally, I like to listen to a lot of books on audio (www.audible.com) but the narrator for OITNB didn’t sound very entertaining. So, I decided to actually read the book. I read the first three chapters yesterday and I am all in. On Wednesday morning I am leaving for a business trip so I will be learning all about Piper Chapman Kerman and her experience in the women’s prison.

Have any of you read this book yet? Have you at least watched the show on Netflix? Practically everyone I know has seen it, and really enjoyed it. It’s simultaneously sad and funny. It also demonstrates that not everyone who finds herself in prison is as guilty as they appear to be (if at all). Let me know if you want to read this book with me and I hope everyone has a blessed week!!! xx

French-Mint Mani

I know that it’s fall and I should be breaking out my darker nail colors…but I don’t want to! Well, at least not every single day. My nails are very short right now, and one way to make your nails looks a bit longer is to give yourself a french manicure.

But people are switching things up nowadays. Traditional white tips are out…I’ve seen a multitude of french manicures with colored tips on various blogs/magazines. For example, tuxedo french manicures (black base with white tips/white base with black tips/glossy black base with matte black tips) seem to be really popular at the moment. But I thought I would try a more subtle look because some of those tuxedo manicures are a little over the top.

In these swatches I decided to use Essie’s Mint Candy Apple nail polish, which has been sitting on my desk for months now:

This is a cool way to add a bright color to your nails without going overboard. It’s fun but still looks conservative. What do you guys think? Would you give this a try?

I hope you all have a blessed week! xx

Date Night Look

Date Night Look
When I go out on dates, I am always contemplating what in the world I should wear. Here is a look that I came up with for a fab date night with your boyfriend/spouse.
I am still loving the Black & White trend, but I think adding some pops of color with your accessories and make up is key. Boyfriend jeans are also still in for the fall. And who doesn’t look good in fuchsia lipstick?! xx

Half Moon

So I decided to try my hand at a half moon manicure since all the nail salons I called last week couldn’t guarantee me that they had a nail tech that could reproduce the look. In the photos below I used  Revlon’s Bubble Gum and OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls. This manicure is a little more difficult than one might think. Check out the images below and let me know what you all think about my skills (or lack thereof…Lol):
