I know that it’s fall and I should be breaking out my darker nail colors…but I don’t want to! Well, at least not every single day. My nails are very short right now, and one way to make your nails looks a bit longer is to give yourself a french manicure.
But people are switching things up nowadays. Traditional white tips are out…I’ve seen a multitude of french manicures with colored tips on various blogs/magazines. For example, tuxedo french manicures (black base with white tips/white base with black tips/glossy black base with matte black tips) seem to be really popular at the moment. But I thought I would try a more subtle look because some of those tuxedo manicures are a little over the top.
In these swatches I decided to use Essie’s Mint Candy Apple nail polish, which has been sitting on my desk for months now:
This is a cool way to add a bright color to your nails without going overboard. It’s fun but still looks conservative. What do you guys think? Would you give this a try?
I hope you all have a blessed week! xx
I don’t think I have ever worn a nail color as much as I have worn Essie’s In The Cab-ana this month. I have the tendency to be obsessed with a nail color when its fresh and new and then I move on to the next one once the obsession had subsided (which doesn’t take long). However, I have been wearing this color so much, I was actually contemplating whether or not I should purchase a back-up when I was in Target the other night. Lol…
I won’t bore you with the details. Take a look at the swatches of this color and you will know why I am obsessed with it:
In The Cab-ana is kind of a robin’s egg blue with a hint of mint. It’s very opaque in one coat, but I used two in these pictures. Like First Timer, the color isn’t too bright and overpowering, but is still very eye catching. The formula was great, but since I have been using it so much I have noticed that it’s getting a little thick. Other than that I think it’s amaze balls!
What colors are you guys into right now? Have any of you tried the new neon collection from Essie? I haven’t only because I don’t like to feel like I am being forced to put white nail polish underneath another nail color to make it pop. I feel like they should be opaque enough on their own so I am on the fence about that collection.
I hope you all enjoyed this post…Talk to you soon! xx
I must apologize to you all for my lack of nail polish swatches lately. I haven’t done a nail post in a while because a few of my nails on my left hand (my swatch hand) had broken and I had to cut all of them down. I like my nails short, but not quite this short. Lol…I’ve also been slacking on my Biotin vitamins so my nails aren’t growing as fast as they normally do.
Anywhoo…Greens aren’t always on my wish list for nail polish, but Essie’s First Timer caught my eye recently and I had to try it out. What I love about this green is that it’s bright without being too loud. It’s an eye catching color but isn’t neon. Loves it!
The formula was amazing as well. I am wearing two coats in these pictures (no top coat), but I easily could have gotten away with one coat. There was a tiny bit of streakiness with the first coat but it was barely noticeable due to the opacity of the color. If you like green polishes, you will love this one as well. What do you all think of this color? Is it, or any of the other colors from Essie’s 2013 Resort Collection, on your wish list?
I didn’t buy all the colors from this collection, but I am smitten with In The Cab-ana as well, which will be my next nail polish swatch. Do any of you have that one? Are there any other nail polish collections you all are obsessed with? You know I am always on the prowl for something new!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! xx
Here are swatches of some nail polishes that I think you all will enjoy this season. I pulled some of my favorite polishes at the moment, many of which are a part of Spring 2013 collections.
As you can see, blues and pinks are my weakness! And who doesn’t love pastels?! Remember that nail polish is just another accessory to add some color to your wardrobe so have fun with it! Don’t get so bogged down with trends. Do you! xx
Here is the second part of my nail polish haul. I hope I don’t wear you all out with all the colors! Lol…Check the video out below:
Here are the swatches for each color mentioned in the video:

Here is a list of the colors I’ve included:
I hope you all enjoyed this post! XOXO
I was playing around with my Sally Hansen’s nail art pen in black (which I have never used BTW) and I decided to try my hand at creating a tribal print on my nails. It came out okay for a first try (I think) but I ran into a serious problem when I tried to do my right hand. My right hand was an epic FAIL! I have gotten really good at painting my right hand, which took a lot of practice, but now I see that nail art is a whole other animal! Lol…
But tell me what you think about my left hand:
In case you are wondering, I used Essie’s Lights as the base color. Then I put one coat of the Out the Door base coat (gotta love that shine!)…
Hope you enjoyed this quick post! Talk to you all soon! xxx
I’ve been slowly, but surely collecting some of the accessories off of my lust list that I published a few months ago here. Glitter in the Air by Deborah Lippmann had been sold out for months. When I tried to find it in the fall I was told that it was a Spring nail polish that was sold out and wasn’t going to be restocked. FALSE! I was in Columbia Mall (Maryland), actually trying to get to the Mac counter in Nordstrom, but since it was so crowded I decided to take a look at the polishes while I waited. And there it was!! There were only two left, and I snatched one of those bottles up with the quickness!
While I was excited about finally getting my hands on this polish, I was a little disappointed that it isn’t very opaque. You will have to apply about three to four coats in order to achieve the look you see in the bottle. However, there is a simple solution to that problem…just use this as a top coat and use a similar color for the base.
I absolutely love this color!! It makes me want to eat cupcakes! Here are some swatches:
This nail polish retails for $18 so if you want to save some money, and you have the patience to search for it, there is a dupe! Revlon’s Whimsical looks pretty identical (which you can purchase here) and I would have purchased that one if I had known about it prior to purchasing this one! Either way, I am satisfied…Loves it!!
As always, happy shopping! XOXO
