DL’s Boom Boom Pow + Gaia

I was painting my nails last night and I wanted to go for a more neutral look since I have been wearing vibrant blues and pinks for a minute now. I decided to use Zoya’s Gaia for my mani, and I added Deborah Lippmann’s Boom Boom Pow to my accent nail.

What can I say about Gaia? First, I have to admit that the pictures do not do her justice. Gaia is a creamy white color with gorgeous flecks of gold/yellow in it. I purchased this color a few months ago during Zoya’s last buy 3, get 3 promotion and I am not at all disappointed. I bought this particular color because white nail polish can look a bit harsh on dark skin (in my opinion) and I wanted a white (or close to white) color that would look flattering on me. Although its a little streaky at first, by your third coat, you will be so mesmerized by this color, and you will forget all about the little bit of work you had to put into it. Gaia’s golden shimmer is really what makes this color special. You can purchase it on Zoya’s website here for $8.

As for Deborah Lippmann’s Boom Boom Pow, not only does it have 24K gold flakies in it, but it looks absolutely gorgeous on the nail. BBP consists of round gold glitters as well as tiny flecks of gold, which makes your nails feel blinged out without looking too over the top. You can pair is with almost any color and it will look beautiful. DL’s nail polishes usually cost a pretty penny (BBP retails for $20), but anyone who has tried her glitter polishes will admit that it is well worth it. Of all of the DL polishes I own, BBP is definitely one of my favorites. You can purchase it at Nordstrom here.

I hope you enjoyed this post…Talk to you all soon!! XOXO

Revvvolution

In my efforts to refrain from purchasing any nail polish during Lent (I am not Catholic, but wanted to sacrifice something) I have been shopping for nail polish within my own collection, which has actually been fun. I remembered that I had this baby after someone I follow on Instagram posted a swatch of it.

Color Club’s Revvvolution is an amazing holographic black nail color.  As with most Color Club polishes, the formula is smooth and very easy to work with…I can’t believe I had forgotten about this one, but these swatches have reminded me of why I was so eager to get my hands on it (or should I say get it on my hands! Lol). Check out the swatches:

Color Club has some other holographic nail polishes like Fashion Addict (Catwalk Queen Collection) and Worth the Risqué (Femme Fatale collection), which have been in my wish list for a minute. I’m sure they are just as amazing!!

Do you have Revvvolution? If so, what do you think about it?

Sephora by OPI Collabs with Betsey Johnson

So the word on the street is that one of my fav designers, Betsey Johnson, has collaborated with Sephora’s OPI nail polish line to design her own collection. The colors are gorge and oh so Betsey! The collection is scheduled to be released at Sephora retail stores in March 2012.

The collection will consist  of seven nail polishes and three strip nail designs…and for those of you who already own a lot of polish, there will be a mini set available for purchase as well. Check out the collection below:

Left to Right starting at the top: Alley Cat, XOX Betsey, Sparkling Personality, Pushing Your Luck, Cart Wheels on the Catwalk, and It's My Pink

Even though these colors are nothing I haven’t seen before, I am def feeling Alley Cat, Pushing Your Luck (wondering if it’s a nice red), Cart Wheels on the Catwalk and It’s My Pink. I will probably cop two or three colors from this collection depending on how the swatches look…What do you all think about this collection???

Julep Maven Program

I’ve been hearing mixed reviews regarding the Julep Maven program and was hesitant to join…but ultimately decided that I wanted to judge for myself. In case you don’t know what it is, the Julep Maven program is similar to Jewelmint, Shoemint, and Birchbox where you pay a monthly fee and receive nail polish and nail related products each month.

First, you take a quick quiz so that they can determine your style type, and each month you will be sent the box that corresponds with that particular style. Based on the test I took, it was determined that I was a Bombshell, which is no surpise! Just kidding…Lol! So I went ahead and ordered my first Bombshell box in January (I only paid $5 for the first box based on a promotion they had going on at the time). Carrie is a nice baby pink (a little streaky with the first coat) and Megan is a beautifully understated turqouise blue with some shimmers in it:

I didn’t like the Bombshell box for February so I opted for the Boho Glam box, which included a gorgeous blue (Marisa), and a “Oscar” gold glitter. The blue looks even more gorgeous in person, and I was excited about the glitter since I don’t own any gold glitter polishes:

Julep's Oscar and Marisa Nail Polishes and Cuticle Oil

I am only two months in, but I haven’t had any problems with Julep thus far. The boxes include $40 worth of product and your monthly subscription price is $19.99, which isn’t a bad deal if you are into nail polish. Keep in mind that the nail polish bottles are smaller than the average bottle of nail polish and can be a bit pricey. Their polishes normally retail for $14, but as a Maven you can get them for $11.20 with free shipping. Actually, all of their products will be 20% off if you join.

I haven’t use the products enough to tell you if they are worth it or not but I will definitely provide you all with an update once I’ve gotten around to trying a number of them. In the meantime, go to their site and just check it out…they have a wide range of colors available and each month you will get colors that haven’t been released yet. No pressure! Lol…but if you would like to sign up for the program, you can use my affiliate link here and use the referral code SHAREONFB to get your first box for $1).

Hope this was informative…and Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!! XOXO

*Please Note: I’ll include swatches of these colors in my next nail polish haul…

Follow Me on Glitter

Today’s Confession: I have an entire list of nail polishes that I want to try saved on my iPhone…There, I said it!

Usually when I see a polish on a nail blog or even on a person, I write down the name and brand so that I can search for it later. Here are some polishes that I’ve been wanting to try, all of which have been on my list (with the exception of Follow Me on Glitter, which one of my girlfriends gave me):

From Left to Right: Orly - Oh Cabana Boy, Nicole by OPI - Follow Me on Glitter, Essie - Trophy Wife, Revlon - Facets of Fuchsia, Essie - Geranium, Nails Inc. - Whitehall, Essie - A Cut Above, Essie - Shine of the Times, Shine of the Times on top of Bailamos, Orly - Bailamos

I’ve mentioned a few of these colors in recent posts, but I wanted to make sure I provided swatches for them all.

There are still a few brands that I really want to try like Models Own, Kleancolor, Nfu Oh, Zoya, Deborah Lippman, Illamasqua, Chanel and Butter London…Anywhoo, enjoy! XOXO
