What To Wear: Chic Tomboys

I don’t know if its because I don’t go out much anymore or if I am reverting back to my old tomboyish ways, but all I want is to be cute and comfortable nowadays. I am so tired of wearing shoes that hurt my feet just to look the part. So I have traded my high heels for these Nike dunks…Love them! Due to the wedge, I feel like a have a little more height (even though I’m 5’7) but not enough to have my feet screaming at the end of the day. Winning…

Glitter Wasted: Zoya’s Dream and Mosheen

So I ordered some polishes from Zoya when they were having their awesome promotions a few weeks ago. Dream and Mosheen from their Zenith collection had been on my wish list since they first came out so I had to cop them. Dream is a gorgeous dark blue jelly polish with holographic glitter. BANGIN’…Mosheen is an ice blue glitter top coat with turquoise bar glitters. It definitely can’t be worn alone but is very pretty over Dream if you can handle that much glitter on one nail. Check out the swatches below:

Glitter nails are always on trend for the holidays so I figured that this was a good nail polish selection with New Year’s right around the corner…

Did you guys catch any of Zoya’s promotions? Do you own any of these colors? If so, how do you like them? Zoya also just came out with their Natural Collection, which you can check out here. Talk to you all soon! xx

Zoya Nail Polish Exchange

12515_10151548643773815_1078447674_n

These sorts of promotions are the precise reason why I love the Zoya brand! From now until April 26, 2013 you can receive 50% off of your nail polish purchases (a minimum order of 6 polishes is required) on Zoya.com. All they ask is that you send them your old nail polish bottles so that they can dispose of them properly. Therefore, if you purchase 6 new polishes from Zoya, you will need to send 6 old nail polishes for them to dispose. However, the old nail polishes you send to them must be from a different brand (any brand except for Zoya).

Since there are some Zoya polishes that I’ve been waiting to try, I’ll definitely be participating. Be sure to check out Zoya’s website for further details on the promotion here.

Talk to you all soon!! xx

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Zoya - Ali

Zoya’s Ali

Mean Girls is still my favorite movie of all time! I’m not even sure that I haven’t named one of my posts after this mantra from the movie already, but we are just gonna go with it for now. Continuing with my red-ish nail polish obsession, today I wanted to show you guys this gorgeous pinky-red cream color from Zoya. I can’t decide whether this color belongs in the pink or red family so you can decide for yourself. All I know is that it is simply gorge…

Ali is a color that I recently rediscovered in my nail polish collection. Do you guys do that? Rediscover things that you loved once but forgot about…but then you fall in love with it again once you take the time to notice it. Okay, maybe that’s just a Leo thing…Lol

Anywhoo, this baby is opaque in one coat, but in the pictures above I used two as well as a top coat. The formula is very easy to manipulate as it is very smooth and creamy. Zoya has quickly become one of my favorite nail polish brands. Did any of you participate in their recent promotion? I decided not to because I want to try a few colors from the Spring 2013 Lovely collection (Blu, Jacqueline and Neely), which weren’t included in the promotion. Nonetheless, $10 for 3 Zoya polishes is a great deal since they are normally $8 a pop. They are always offering promotions so I’m sure I’ll catch the next one!

Hanging In The Balance+18k Top Coat

After being in a nail polish rut all week, it was nice to pick up a handful of colors from China Glaze’s Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away 3D Collection. I obviously didn’t purchase the entire collection because I don’t have a need for all of them. Amongst the four I picked up (Hanging in the Balance, Escaping Reality, Igniting Love, and Whirled Away) I have to admit that I am totally in love with Hanging in the Balance (HITB). It is a gorgeous blue, and you all know how I love my blues!

HITB is a dark, cream turquoise blue and the brightness of the color changes depending on the lighting. The application was amazing! This formula is opaque in one coat, but in the picture below I used two.  Check out the swatches below:

CG and Zoya 18k4

I am also wearing Zoya’s 18k gold flake topcoat on my ring finger as an accent. Can I say that this topcoat is AMAZEBALLS! The application is super easy and adds a little something special to the manicure. I love that the flakes can easily be spread out on the nail as opposed to depositing a bunch of flakes in one spot, which is a problem I sometimes have with glitter nail polishes. If you are interested in purchasing it, you can order it here. You get more bang for your buck if you order the set, which is $10 more than the topcoat alone, but includes two nail polishes (Raven and Purity) in addition to the topcoat.

Anywho, you can check out the entire Cirque du Soleil collection on head2toebeauty.com or sallybeauty.com. If you are interested in seeing the swatches of the rest of the colors I purchased from the collection, let me know! Talk to you soon! xx

Just Like Candy Mani

Let me start by saying that this nail design was inspired by a post I saw recently here on Channing in the City. It was posted by a guest blogger, Sereeda from http://www.eclechick.com, and I loved the design so much I decided to try it!

With all the doom and gloom going on outside today, I thought I would brighten my day with this pretty DIY nail design. Sereeda’s instructions were super easy to follow (be sure to click on the link above) so I won’t go over the steps again, but I will tell you what nail colors and brands I used below:

20120826-160135.jpg

Used Zoya’s Ericka as the based color. Color Club’s Blu-Ming, Nails Inc’s Baker Street, and Zoya’s Lara were used to make the dots. I also used a dotting tool which is not pictured here.

How adorable is this? Makes me think of Nerds!!

20120826-160428.jpg

I love this mani and fully intend on doing variations of this look in the future. I’m so glad I decided not to go to the nail salon today because I think I did a pretty good job on my cuticles! Lol…But what do you guys think of this mani?? Would you try it? Talk to you all soon! XOXO
